Planned by DD ("we", "us", "our") is an event planning business based in Accra, Ghana, founded by Maame Esi Appiah. This policy explains what personal data we collect when you use getplannedbydd.com, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We process personal data in line with Ghana's Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843).
1. The information we collect
- Event inquiry answers — details you give us about your event, such as the type of event, preferred date, location, guest numbers, budget range, services needed, style preferences and any notes.
- Contact details — your name, email address, phone or WhatsApp number, company name (for corporate events), how and when you prefer to be contacted, and how you heard about us.
- Uploads — inspiration images, briefs or other documents you choose to attach.
- Consultation bookings — the consultation type, date and time you choose, and any note you add.
- Payment references — when you pay for a consultation, we receive the payment reference, amount, payment channel (card or Mobile Money) and status from Paystack. We never see or store your card details or Mobile Money PIN; these are processed securely by Paystack.
- Consent records — the date, time and IP address at which you agreed to be contacted or to receive our newsletter.
- Technical data — basic information your browser sends (such as IP address and device type) to keep the site secure and, only if you accept analytics cookies, anonymous usage statistics.
2. Why we use your information
- To respond to your inquiry, prepare a proposal and plan your event.
- To schedule and confirm consultations and send reminders.
- To process consultation payments and keep financial records.
- To send you planning tips and news, only if you have opted in.
- To keep our website secure and prevent spam and abuse.
- To improve our website, only if you have accepted analytics cookies.
3. Legal basis
We rely on your consent (for example, when you tick the box agreeing to be contacted, or opt in to our newsletter), on the steps needed to enter into or perform a contract with you (planning your event or booking a consultation), and on our legitimate interests in running a secure and well-organised business. You can withdraw consent at any time.
4. How long we keep it
We keep inquiry and booking records for as long as needed to plan your event and for up to three years afterwards, so we can answer follow-up questions and meet accounting obligations. Inquiries that do not become bookings are reviewed regularly and anonymised or deleted when no longer needed. Payment records are kept for the period required by Ghanaian tax law. Newsletter records are kept until you unsubscribe.
5. Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with trusted service providers who help us run our business, under appropriate safeguards:
- Hostinger Email — our mailbox provider, used to send emails such as your inquiry copy and booking confirmations.
- Paystack — to process consultation payments by card or Mobile Money.
- Cloudinary — to store images and documents you upload.
- Vercel and Neon — to host our website and database.
- Cloudflare Turnstile — to protect our forms from spam.
- Google Analytics — only if you accept analytics cookies.
When we plan your event, we may share relevant details (for example, your event date and guest numbers) with the vendors you agree to work with. Some of our providers store data outside Ghana; where they do, we rely on their contractual and security commitments to protect it.
6. Cookies
We use essential cookies that the site needs to work, such as remembering your cookie choice and keeping administrators signed in. Analytics cookies are only set if you click "Accept" on our cookie banner. You can change your choice at any time by clearing your browser's cookies for this site.
7. Your rights
Under the Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843), you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you;
- Correct anything that is inaccurate or incomplete;
- Ask us to delete your data, where we no longer need it;
- Object to or withdraw consent for marketing at any time — every newsletter includes an unsubscribe link.
You may also complain to the Data Protection Commission of Ghana.
8. Security
We use encrypted connections (HTTPS), restricted administrator access with two-step verification, and private storage for uploaded documents. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.
9. Contact us about privacy
To make a privacy request or ask a question, email hello@getplannedbydd.com with "Privacy request" in the subject line. We will respond within 30 days.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top shows when it last changed.
